Escape to Zagreb
Woke up early, checked out of from my Soviet-esque hotel and hopped on the freeway towards Zagreb. The day was amazingly beautiful and clear (thanks Haliburton for global warming! 60 degrees in January in Serbia is fabu!). About 1 ½ later I was at the border with Croatia. The change in the roadway was amazing! I had left the bumpy road and shanty gas stations behind for a modern smooth European-esque freeway! Zoom zoom all the way to Zagreb…..2 ½ hours of pretty mountains to my right and golden fields to my left.
When I arrived in Zagreb I was very impressed with how beautiful the city is. I checked in and turned around to enjoy the rest of the day wandering around old town Zagreb with its cobble stones, trolley cars and Austro-Hungarian architecture. BUT….. I quickly found out I, well, my little rental car, was NOT welcome in Croatia….wink wink…Serbian plates. The nasty looks were, well, nasty!
Here I am mixing porn and politics again! Think back guys…back to the 1990’s and the Yugoslavian conflict…well, then you would understand why my little rental car was discriminated against!
Anyway, I went back to my room to meet up with a tall hot blonde Croatian guy!
